Facebook’s messenger games: A quest for its own app store

by Admin

Things between the two giants precipitated as recently Facebook equipped its mobile game publishers with the ability to monetize the games through ads and online purchases. This provision struck Apple app store like lightning because it would encourage the gamers on Facebook messenger to have more control and choice. Since 80% of the mobile gamers use Facebook messenger, therefore, Apple App store sees it as a threat to its future business.

One of the reasons for increasing popularity of Facebook messenger app games is that they are “Instant Games”. These consume lesser resources since they need not be installed and are lighter for devices as compared to gaming apps.

“TapResearch” gains the insight about the number of people playing online games. Facebook messenger app leads the race as compared to its counterparts by a great deal due to recent modifications in the messenger based gameplay. As per the survey of about 1000 gamers, the popular games identified by TapResearch are word games, puzzles, and action.

”Of the 62% of the FB users who have not played the messenger app game yet, blame lack of awareness for not playing,” says Micheal Sprague, VP of business development at TapResearch. This marks that its number will rise in the future as the information prevails among users.

The cleft between Facebook and Apple dates back to 2010 when Facebook delayed its app for the newly launched iPad. Insider information reveals that Facebook was looking for a web-based app so that it could sneak out of Apple’s strict app store rules. A former lead developer at Facebook Jeff Verkoeyen wrote in his blog that the Facebook app for iPad was released about one and a half year later than the launch of iPad.

“Project Spartan” was another attempt by Facebook to put its own app store on millions of IOS devices around the globe.  Facebook plans to use HTML5 front end for all its apps on existing Apple devices without the installation of flash.

Techcrunch breaks out that good about eighty developers are part of Project Spartan. Other software giants like Zynga is also working in collaboration with Facebook making sure it supports interactive games and credits.

Apple has always tried to maintain its supremacy in the apps industry by adopting stringent app store rules. The whole App store is under monitoring. Apps like “AppGratis” are identified and kicked off from the store for their mimicking what the app store itself does. Purchase and installation of apps within an app are discouraged by every app store as it would undermine the importance of app stores.

John Koetsier points out through his article in Forbes that both the companies may happen to reach a cold war here. According to statistics, 38% of mobile gamers have used Facebook’s messenger app for gaming. This brewing conflict has to be monitored by the whole app development industry for their protection and safety of business.

The duel between Apple and Facebook has opened the new arena for game developers, particularly for the new entrants. Now there is no restriction to follow a single popular platform for game development. For the App developers, Facebook messenger app games may become the token of success. The need of time is to polish skills in this new arena as well.

by Admin

Online resources for a business like websites and mobile apps have provided a lucrative platform for diversified client base. However, making your presence online on the app stores and web servers is a necessity to take advantage of online business opportunities. Apple’s iTunes and Google play store are the popular stations for apps but these are not the only options.

The smart businessmen around the globe do not restrict them to just iTunes and Google play store. Rather they work on multiple app stores strategy. Other app store options include “Amazon app store”, “Opera Mobile Store” has a reach of more than 100 million users around the world.  Adaptability in app design in light of region, language and religion are conducive to alternative app stores. Online marketing data suggests businesses which look beyond the two app stores have a bigger brand profile, higher profits, and diversified clients.

Another alternative app store in the making is “National Geographic”. Marcus East, Executive Vice President of Product and Technology at National Geographic. He further stated that the main idea behind this is “to minimize the cost of being in all these different environments”. National Geographic is developing an “intelligent platform” with its teams stationed in Asia directed to grab new partners to enhance app distribution “without the need of building everything from scratch, and without initiating loads of developing work.”

Technology is dominating our lifestyles due to which human-machine interaction has increased a great deal. This notion has been well understood by the modern merchants. There has been a mushroom growth of mobile apps and app stores.

We know that in today’s world expressing ourselves is the core to do business. The more contact we make with people the more are the chances of having the business. For the purpose of having a successful and prospering business, there has been a constant struggle by the producers to advertise their firms on various platforms. Modern modes and devices of communication have greatly impacted the way we collect and share information.

It gives the breakdown of information into categories like geography, focus, app category and ownership of app store (either by an operator or device manufacturer).

Online businesses are burgeoning with significant profit margins. There are various platforms developed for the apps. No matter what is the category of your app or which sector of people you target, the central point is to grow the app footprint. Importance of mobile app design for maximum growth

by Admin

Mobile apps are becoming increasingly popular these days. We see all big names of market now prefer to have mobile app foot print for their users. With the burgeoning growth of the mobile apps on the canvas of global online trading the diversity in app concepts and designs has also increased.

The design of mobile apps chiefly consists of two parts, UI and UX. An app development company in Dubai or in any other part of the world has to put immense efforts in both these sectors. We believe that only such mobile app can survive for longer which is complete and attractive in its design as well as concrete and firm in its contents.

Ever heard of UI and UX before? If no, then let me explain what these terms mean. The UI (User Interface) or GUI (Graphical User Interface) refers to what the users sees when they open the app. This consists of the color scheme, display popups, menu layout, icons shapes etc. The more attractive the app looks, more charm the user takes while using it.

On the other hand UX relates to User Experience Design of the app. It’s kind of a back-end thing. UX incorporates customers’ requirements and company goals and policies in the light of which the app’s operational sequences are adopted.

Accommodating UI and UX

For the mobile app to be highly productive there should be combined effort at both stages. Almost all the app development companies from Dubai or elsewhere want to increase their customer base but miss the key ingredient of app development. The UX phase comes first in the app development process and hence should be given much consideration. The usability, ease of operation and speedy access to required information principally drive this phase for a highly productive mobile app. the remaining part of job is that of UI experts to cover such options in eye-catchy way.

Tool tips

The layering of tool tips on top of the UI elements can be conducive to assist the user for speedy operations. These days nobody has time to literally read all the content. People want to jump right to the required information. The UI should facilitate users in this regard consequently leading to growth in business.

Don’t mess up

Let’s take an example, if you design an app that requires location access and you ask from user whether to allow or not allow it, and if the user disallow the app, then user will surely be at dead end. One can be cautious in this case by saying that the access to location is required, with an option to turn on location below this popup. In this way the permission to use location can be gained with considerate words. App architecture should not leave everything at the user end rather should make the user to adopt what has to be adopted for smooth running.

Pertinent referral channels

Instead of piling up the app with social media links and other channels which are scarcely opted by users. Try to identify and attach top five pertinent links with your app. offer certain incentives to the users when they go for those links.

App design a key to success

In this ever-expanding galaxy of mobile apps you can bring laurels to your business through its exotic design. A well-crafted and well-designed app literally read users minds and put forth what they need. For the success of business it is imperative that ample time be spent on its design and presentation. The cognition it develops with sight of user dictates its effectiveness. App design is a tricky business to tackle therefore, professional consultation may be asked for innovative app design at economical costs.

How to hire app developer?

by Admin

Apps are your business interface with the clients. It should be easy to maneuver for reaching target information on part of user. From the eyes of app Development Company in Dubai one has diversified options regarding this task. Having the best app developer is the first step towards having a successful business through the mobile app. There are many ways to pin-point the appropriate app developer. Following points will lead you to most pertinent app development entity.

1.       Location:

Although app development has its roots in all parts of the world but there are few countries whose peasants have excelled this skill. North America, Germany, London, India and Ukraine are chief hubs for app developers. Silicon Valley clearly depicts the greater share of contributors from these regions. Pakistan too has a prominent contribution in this industry through its indirect clientele based in London, Dubai and Canada. North America is the third largest contributor of app developers after Asia and Europe. According to ZDNet, the local Silicon Valley in India, Bangalore, is the house to approximately 300,000 app developers.

Another potential source of app developers is Ukraine. In Gartner’s list of top 30 outsourcing destinations Ukraine holds a reputable position. Its app developers hold a good record of frequently being hired by prominent businesses from USA, Canada, UK and Western Europe. They hold their name for quality work with decent aesthetic sense.

2.       Price or Quality?

Choosing the best option with-in the budget is always a tricky choice to make. Quality should never be compromised over price. According to Rahul Varshneya from Entreprenuer.com the price should not be driving force in the choice of app developer. He suggests that the cheaper option may turn out to be the expensive one in a longer run. Hire an expert, although being costly. It will pay you off in terms of lower post development expenses. Consider a scenario in which an amateur is hired who do away with the whole concept of the app and you need to hire somebody again for redoing.

Working with teams may be a good choice keeping in view different aspects of app development like design, functionality and testing. Despite being a costly option, it still pays off by incorporating multiple ideas into the design. Unlike the individual freelancers, the diversity in a team results in a cumulatively better app.

3.       Same interest:

As an app development company in Dubai one must hunt for the app developer who has interest in your genre of business. It’s a real heaven when passion becomes profession. The app developer having same interests will not only be a source of healthy suggestions rather will also contribute towards enthusiastic app development. This will allow you to benefit from his experience. Finding the specific app developer can be cumbersome but spending time in this hunt is worth spending, so don’t hesitate in doing so.

4.       Check Profile:

Before reaching the final decision of selecting the app developer it is very important to look what kind of projects that individual or company has completed. The success rate of its apps can provide valuable insight into this decision. Hiring some body from any freelancer site, you can check candidate’s profile, their completed projects and also list of clients and references. Upwork, People per hour or freelancer.com can be few choices.

For team hiring or bigger in size projects one can consult Dribbble or Behance. Both these designer communities are few examples from the galaxy of apps development in this world. The projects done by these companies can be conducive for you to make a choice.

5.       Type of app:

The nature of app dictates what kind of app developer one requires. There may be simple apps consisting of templates and drop down menus. Enterprise apps may require a bit experienced developers who may come up with innovative apps while restricting themselves to a particular organization. Gaming apps may require highly skilled individuals or teams for the job. The choice however, lies in your hands. Make a wise choice.

Facebook’s new White-box

by Admin

White box named as “Voyager” is an attempt by Facebook to cater for the communication hardware requirements keeping in line with its urge to reach the un-reached. It all began with a wacky idea striking one of the Facebook’s engineers while in seated in the company’s headquarters in California. This might just be an idea, but initial prototypes are suggesting that it may hustle the whole $350 Billion telecommunication industry.

The engineer marked that “It should not be so difficult to develop our own communication systems”.

The aim behind this was to limit the high costs of existing telecom hardware giants like Huawei, Juniper Computers, Cisco, Ericsson etc. which deliver Facebook the pertinent hardware for its global presence. The need of being present in all parts of the world is really driving Facebook crazy in search of less costly solutions for data transfer with a high quality, reliability and quickly.

As suggested by the engineer, the “White box” transponder is supposed to be made from off the shelf components such as microchips from Acacia or Broadcom communications and optical equipment from Lumentum Inc. For governing this hardware the software can be developed from any of the emerging networking startup entrepreneurs.

“I was a bit skeptical about the idea at that time,” says Hans-Juergen Schmidtke the director of engineering at Facebook.

Schmidtke was initially the naysayer in response to the idea. His negation was backed by his experience at Juniper Computers because he knew that development of any hardware requires extensive research and a highly qualified team. At Facebook, the monetary investment may not be that much an issue but recruiting the hardware tech-genes may be a cumbersome task.

Schmidtke added that “Building a system 10 years ago was analogous to building a whole new company”. Keeping up with the innovation centered enthusiasm of Facebook, Schmidtke agreed with the team for development of the prototype. In three months, the group produced a working prototype of the white box. And Six months later, the same was introduced as a product by the name of “Voyager”.

The announcement was not welcomed in the telecommunications circle as this posed a serious threat to the giants who have been ruling the market for decades. Their products were soon to become obsolete. The business opportunities will soon start to shrink. The main purpose is to make Facebook fulfill its hardware requirements through indigenous resources and customized communication equipment.

Smart and highly efficient hardware is very much conducive for the online market and people associated with it. Web development and mobile app development companies around the globe are constantly coming up with innovative ideas for their web pages and apps catering for various needs of its users.

Voyager has successfully qualified many of its initial tests. Earlier this year, Voyager was tested by Facebook and Telia, a European telecom company, over Telia’s thousand kilometer telecom network. The results were very favorable. The manufacturing is being done at ADVA Optical Networking, a German tech genius company. At this stage, it has nine customers who opted to use Voyager for their telecom requirements. Paris based company “Orange” is also in the race of testing the device in collaboration with Equinix and the African company MTN.

Voyager depicts the future of telecom industry. Schmidtke and his team showed strong resolve to put together this raw idea into a functional product. With the success of Voyager, Schmidtke and his team are profoundly marked as stars of modern age communication. Where ever they go in conferences, they are treated as tech-celebrities. “We have done it showing that the effort of few engineers can change the whole world,” says Schmidtke.

The idea of having developed indigenous communication hardware might not just be limited to Facebook itself. Once any product like this is launched it opens new horizons for app developers, software developers, particularly mobile app development companies. Having a high-speed communication chiefly motivates new users to be online and that is where app development companies can benefit from.
